Glaciers, bones, and gusts of wind: around town in Reykjavik

There are a few Fosshotels around town
With the time change, mom and I slept until almost 10 a.m. without a care or a clue. My husband will be horrified at us burning daylight like that. But alas, he is not here to rip open the curtains. Rested, we had a granola bar with a Nescafe and started the day.

First stop...The National Museum of Iceland.

Then, back to the hotel to meet our driver. Andres (a somewhat disgruntled former chef) took us around to see the highlights of town. After three minutes outside in the frigid wind, we were glad to have a driver for two hours instead of walking everywhere. Even with the full ski gear on, the bitter gusts blow right through you, enough to nearly knock you down. We weren't complaining too much after Andres reminded us that last week was snowy, followed by downpours and flooding through the streets...along with the wind. All tours were cancelled since you couldn't see out the windshield.
 Lighthouse Point...outskirts of town
So cold I can't feel my face.

Harpa, the new performing arts center
This exhibition was built on top of a excavated longhouse...quite innovative interactive exhibits inside. This is our driver, Andres.
